Carter Cellars To Kalon 'The Grand Daddy' Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Product Description
A new addition to the Carter Cellars line up in 2009, ‘The Grand Daddy’ Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a new block of old vine clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon we were offered called A2. The vines were cropped down to yields of 3.1 ton per acre and we harvested incredibly perfect fruit in the early hours of October 10th. When it was delivered to the winery, we knew right way we were blessed with another gift from the To Kalon vineyard. Noticeably darker in the glass than the regular To Kalon, purple hues stretch to the rim. When swirled, scents of cassis, black currant, cedar wood and Provencal herbs combine with such lift it will take your senses over. On the palate, a belly full of ripe Cabernet Sauvignon fruit and moderate tannins form the base which allows this wine to flow seamlessly and coat with textures and flavors that are both exotic and classically styled. The finish is a menagerie of dark fruits, all spice, crushed rock and polished tannin fully engaging all senses. A short decant will get this wine rolling right now but age it for 6-12 years so it can reveal it’s true pedigree. A very impressive wine.
