Founded in 1808, Henriot is one of the oldest “Maisons of Champagne”. The ancestors were originally wine and wool merchants. Following the death of her husband, the widow Appoline Godinot managed to keep the business flourishing with prestigious clients such as the illustrious Kings of Holland and then the Austria-Hungarian Emperor. The Henriot family still managed the Maison and its vast vineyard of over 100 hectares which is mainly composed of the Chardonnay grape. The sovereign brut is composed of two white grape varieties: 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, combined the two grape varieties make a truly authentic champagne. It is vigorous, very dry (10g dosage) with complex aromas which the connoisseur would recognise to be characteristic of some of the top quality crus of Champagne. The use of the “vins de reserve” (mature wines) in the final blending process guarantees a continuity in the distinct Henriot taste.
